Did you know…
About 1 in 3 bites of food we eat relies on pollination.
There are over 450 species of bees in Michigan alone!
Native bees like bumblebees and mason bees are just as important as honeybees.
In this month’s article, we share the story behind Northville4Bees — how a group of students came together to start a movement for pollinator conservation.
This summer has been an exciting start for Northville4Bees, a student-led initiative dedicated to protecting pollinators and educating our community about their importance. Since our launch a mere four months ago, we have already distributed more than 120 native wildflower seed packets to community members, and connected with nearly 200 people at local events. At each stop, we have shared why bees and other pollinators are essential to our environment, our food supply, and the future of local ecosystems.
Our mission combines education, action, and community. We pride ourselves in being able to help people of all ages understand the role of pollinators, while also providing practical ways to support them such as planting seeds and creating pollinator-friendly spaces. At the same time, we are building connections with schools, local groups, and residents so that Northville can grow into a healthier, more sustainable environment where pollinators can thrive.
We are just getting started, but the support we have received has been incredible. Whether it is planting wildflowers, building bee habitats, or simply learning more, every person we meet helps grow this movement. Together, we can make Northville, and beyond, a place where pollinators are not just surviving, but thriving!
Thank you for supporting us at the beginning of this journey. We look forward to sharing more updates, stories, and ways to get involved in the months ahead.
Future newsletters will highlight other topics, from gardening tips to pollinator-friendly products.
Thank you for being part of our journey — every seed planted, every person informed, and every bee supported brings us closer to a healthier environment.
Be sure to stop by our upcoming events to help support us!
